Lake Central Varsity – 2021 got out to a six-run lead in the sixth inning and held on for a 9-7 victory over Laporte on Tuesday. Laporte scored four runs in the failed comeback on a groundout by Kade Flores in the sixth, a walk by Evan Czewski in the seventh, a double by Jayden Parkes in the seventh, and a groundout by Carson Staubaum in the seventh.

Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. Lake Central Varsity – 2021 collected 14 hits and Laporte had eight.

Lake Central Varsity – 2021 got things moving in the first inning. Matt Santana singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.

Laporte knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the first inning. Hayden Lowe drove in two when Lowe singled.

Laporte scored three runs in the seventh inning. Czewski, Parkes, and Staubaum each drove in runs during the inning.

Carter Doorn was on the pitcher’s mound for Lake Central Varsity – 2021. The righty surrendered six runs on seven hits over six and a third innings, striking out 12.

Worthington was on the hill for Laporte . The hurler lasted three innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while striking out four and walking one. Caleb McGuire and Shane Weaver entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two and a third innings and one and two-thirds innings respectively.
