Introducing the 2024 Post-Tribune Baseball All-Area Team

Troy Barrett, Chesterton, sophomore, pitcher/outfielder: Went 7-1 with a 1.18 ERA and 83 strikeouts in 53 1/3 innings. Also hit .426 with one homer, 24 RBIs and 19 runs scored. All-conference.

Mason Barth, Andrean, junior, shortstop: Hit .442 with three homers, 25 RBIs, 32 runs scored and 15 stolen bases. All-conference. Committed to Notre Dame.

Dylan Bowen, Hanover Central, sophomore, shortstop: Hit .430 with 28 RBIs. Conference offensive player of the year.

Xavier Carrera, Boone Grove, junior, middle infielder/pitcher: Hit .403 with four homers, 23 RBIs, 26 runs scored and 14 stolen bases. Also had a 3.03 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 32 1/3 innings. Conference MVP. Committed to Indiana.

Logan Cotton, Crown Point, junior, pitcher: Went 6-2 with a 1.34 ERA and 81 strikeouts in 52 1/3 innings. All-conference. Committed to Indiana.

Caden Crowell, Valparaiso, junior, pitcher/first baseman: Went 4-0 with a 0.25 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 28 innings. Also hit .449 with three homers, 24 RBIs and 18 runs scored. Conference most valuable pitcher. Committed to Notre Dame.

Rob Czarniecki, Chesterton, sophomore, outfielder/pitcher: Hit .489 with seven homers, 38 RBIs, 31 runs scored and nine stolen bases. Also went 4-0 with a 0.73 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 28 2/3 innings. Conference most valuable position player.

Nick Robinson, Lake Central, senior, outfielder: Hit .386 with 25 RBIs, 36 runs scored and 38 stolen bases. All-conference.

Blake Sivak, Lake Central, senior, pitcher: Went 8-1 with a 1.22 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 57 1/3 innings. All-conference. Committed to Maryville.

Griffin Tobias, Lake Central, senior, pitcher: Went 7-2 with a 0.95 ERA and 98 strikeouts in 66 1/3 innings. Also hit .308 with one homer, 22 RBIs and 21 runs scored. All-conference and North All-Star. Committed to Indiana.

Isaac VanderWoude, Illiana Christian, senior, shortstop: Hit .425 with five homers, 32 RBIs, 41 runs scored and 22 stolen bases. All-conference and North All-Star. Committed to Virginia.

Caiden Verrett, Hanover Central, junior, catcher: Hit .386 with one homer and 24 RBIs. All-conference.


Tyler Balkema, Illiana Christian, senior, second baseman: Hit .395 with 22 RBIs, 31 runs scored and 14 stolen bases. All-conference.

Brayden Barrett, Chesterton, senior, shortstop/pitcher: Hit .370 with 19 RBIs, 33 runs scored and 11 stolen bases. Also went 6-3 with a 2.30 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 51 2/3 innings. All-conference and North All-Star. Committed to Purdue Northwest.

Drew Burris, Hobart, junior, pitcher: Went 5-2 with a 0.88 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 48 innings. All-conference.

Davian Carrera, Boone Grove, junior, outfielder/first baseman: Hit .362 with two homers, 25 RBIs, 20 runs scored and 10 stolen bases. Also had a 2.56 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 13 2/3 innings. All-conference. Committed to Indiana.

Grant Cowger, Morgan Township, senior, outfielder/pitcher: Hit .393 with one homer, 17 RBIs, 21 runs scored and 19 stolen bases. Also had a 2.58 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 35 1/3 innings. All-conference.

Aslyn Farinelli, Crown Point, senior, pitcher/third baseman: Went 6-3 with a 1.94 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 43 1/3 innings. Also had one homer, 11 RBIs and 26 runs scored. All-conference. Committed to Ohio Northern.

Trevor Fenters, Valparaiso, junior, pitcher/corner infielder: Went 5-1 with a 1.82 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 42 1/3 innings. Also hit .359 with three homers, 25 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

Mason Jarrett, Munster, junior, outfielder: Hit .410 with one homer, 28 RBIs, 25 runs scored and 14 stolen bases. All-conference.

Tyler Peller, Andrean, senior, outfielder: Hit .325 with three homers, 32 RBIs and 10 stolen bases. All-conference and North All-Star. Committed to Wabash Valley.

Seth Pitcock, Boone Grove, junior, shortstop/pitcher: Hit .386 with one homer, 13 RBIs, 28 runs scored and 26 stolen bases. Also had a 3.29 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 34 innings. All-conference.

Anthony Rayski, Hanover Central, junior, pitcher: Went 4-1 with a 1.75 ERA and 30 strikeouts. Conference pitcher of the year.

Kaleb Short, River Forest, senior, utility/pitcher: Hit .627 with one homer, 25 RBIs, 33 runs scored and 40 stolen bases. Also went 7-2 with a 1.08 ERA and 123 strikeouts in 58 1/3 innings. All-conference. Committed to Ancilla.
