MUNSTER — The Milwaukee Brewers drafted Lake Central’s Griffin Tobias, The Times 2024 Baseball Player of the Year, in the ninth round in Monday’s MLB Draft with the 275th overall pick.
Tobias, an Indiana University commit, could be joining 2023 Times Player of the Year and former LC teammate Josh Adamczewski in Milwaukee’s farm system if he chooses to sign with the Brewers.
Tobias wrapped up a stellar high school career by helping Lake Central win its first state championship since 2012 as part of a dominant postseason run.

In the state tournament, Tobias threw 29 innings, allowing just three runs. In the Class 4A championship game, he allowed one run and struck out nine in 8⅓ strong innings to keep the Indians alive in what would become a 12-inning marathon of a game.
Tobias sported a 0.95 ERA in 66⅓ innings as a senior in 2024. He fanned 98 hitters as opposed to just 11 walks. He also contributed for Lake Central as a hitter, batting .308 on the season with one homer and 18 RBIs.
