Zimmerman’s Perfect Night Powers Lake Central Past Mishawaka Marian

ST. JOHN, Ind. — Jacob Zimmerman was locked in at the plate Friday night, going a flawless 3-for-3 and leading Lake Central to a commanding 11-3 victory over Mishawaka Marian in non-conference high school baseball action.

Zimmerman wasted no time making an impact, driving in runs in the second and third innings and setting the tone for a relentless Lake Central offense. The junior standout doubled in the third, and singled in both the second and fourth frames, finishing with two RBIs on the night.

Dylan Hein opened the scoring with an RBI single in the top of the first, sparking what would become a five-run surge over the next two innings. Hein also added an RBI double in the third, part of a multi-hit effort for the senior outfielder.

The Indians piled on the offense early, racking up five runs by the end of the third to seize control of the game. They never looked back, tallying 11 hits on the night and keeping pressure on the basepaths with six stolen bags—including two from Keegan O’Bryan.

On the mound, Ethan Chapman delivered a lights-out performance in relief. The sophomore right-hander tossed 4.1 hitless innings, striking out three and walking two to secure the win. Chapman entered with the game still within reach and slammed the door on any hopes of a Marian rally.

Lake Central’s defense was sharp as well, turning a double play and playing error-free baseball. Zimmerman, starring not only at the plate but also in the field, led the team with four defensive chances.

Mishawaka Marian struggled to find rhythm, mustering just a handful of scoring chances. Starting pitcher Isaac Gill lasted four innings, giving up nine runs—eight of them earned—on 11 hits while walking four.
