Lake Central Dominates Merrillville, 18–0, in Conference Rout

Lake Central exploded offensively on Wednesday, overwhelming Merrillville in an 18–0 shutout victory to improve to 22–4 on the season. The Indians left no doubt in this conference clash, scoring in every inning and cruising to the lopsided win.

The Indians wasted no time, striking for six runs in the first inning and never looking back. By the end of the third, Lake Central had built a commanding 14–0 lead. They capped the offensive onslaught with four more runs in the fourth, finishing with 14 hits on the day.

Offensive standouts included:

  • Anthony Cortez, who went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, two runs scored, and a walk.
  • Luke Swartz, who doubled twice, drove in four runs, and crossed the plate three times.
  • Ethan Craft, who added two hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored.
  • Jacob Garza, who reached base four times, scored three runs, and chipped in two RBIs.

On the mound, Nate Martinez was dominant, tossing four shutout innings with five strikeouts and allowing just one hit. Ryan Kania closed it out with a perfect inning in relief.

Lake Central’s defense was equally sharp, committing no errors while backing up their pitchers with steady play in the field.

With the win, the Indians moved to 22–4 overall and 13–1 in conference play, keeping momentum alive as they prepare for the postseason.
