LC Claims Lead In Fifth Inning To Defeat Lincoln-Way Central

Lake Central Indians Varsity defeated Lincoln-Way Central 5-2 on Saturday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at two with Lake Central Indians Varsity batting in the bottom of the fifth when Hunter Snyder doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

Lincoln-Way Central fired up the offense in the first inning, when Mensik drew a walk, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the third inning, Lake Central Indians Varsity tied things up at two. Connor Misch hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.

Josh Warn got the win for Lake Central Indians VarsityWarn surrendered two runs on three hits over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Grant MercerEthan Knopf, and Luke O’Keefe all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.

Mensik took the loss for Lincoln-Way Central. The hurler allowed six hits and four runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking one.

Lake Central Indians Varsity smacked one home run on the day. Griffin Tobias went deep in the fifth inning.

Tobias went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Lake Central Indians Varsity in hits. Lake Central Indians Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Tobias had the most chances in the field with six.

Petch led Lincoln-Way Central with two hits in two at bats.
