Position: Varsity Head Coach
Coach Swartzentruber is entering his 7th year leading the Lake Central baseball program and his 26th overall as a head varsity baseball coach. Coach Swartzentruber has amassed over 400 varsity wins. While at Lake Central his teams have gone 118-36 while winning Sectional Championships in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2022 and DAC Championships in 2018, 2021, and 2022. Coach Swartz earned his BS degree in Business Education at Oakland City University where he played collegiately earning Newcomer of the Year in 1991 and Most Outstanding Pitcher in 1993. Coach also earned his MS in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Coach and his wife of 22 years, Misty, have two children…son Griffen (2021 LC Grad) and daughter Ryan (Senior at LC). They reside in the Lakes of the Four Seasons.

Position: Varsity Assistant Coach
John is beginning his 6th season as a volunteer baseball coach with the Indians. He primarily works with our outfielders. He served 27 years as a police detective with the Hammond Police Department and also worked as an insurance investigator. John’s coaching experiences include coaching varsity baseball and travel baseball with the 5 Star Great Lakes Chiefs 17u team. He is married to Eve and they have two children, John (VP at 1st Merchants Bank) and Nicole (Principal at Elliot Elementary School). The Novosel family resides in St. John. John is a Vietnam Army veteran.
Position: Varsity Pitching Coach
Bryan begins his 2nd season serving as the varsity pitching coach for the Indians. He has been coaching high school aged players for 6 years through All Aspects and the NWI Shockers. He currently works as a pitching and strength coach; he has been teaching the Driveline throwing program for the last 4 years and has also focused on individual instruction for 6 years. Bryan holds a BA in Business and a Computing Minor from Trinity Christian College where he had a decorated playing career. Bryan was a 4-year starter, a captain, and a participant in the Athletic Leadership Program for Students. He earned NCCAA All Tournament Team Honors in 2016 and 2019 and holds several Trinity records. Bryan is a Schererville resident and an alum of Lake Central and recorded the first ever with on the LC’s turf field. Bryan resides in Schererville.
Position: Varsity Assistant Coach
Doug is entering his 1st season as an assistant baseball coach. He is a former LC player (2020 graduate). Doug holds an associates degree from Joliet Junior College where he played two seasons of baseball. At Joliet, Doug broke a 27 year single-season Homerun record and was named NJCAA 1st Team All-Region. Doug will continue his playing career at NCAA Division 1 Oakland University in the fall of 2023.
Position: JV Head Coach
Brian is beginning his 7th season as the junior varsity baseball coach. He brings both basketball and baseball coaching experience to the Indians. Brian had been the head freshman baseball coach for 3 season and has also coached middle school basketball for both boys and girls. He coached our girls’ freshman basketball team for 3 years and assisted our frosh football team for 2 years as well. Brian is entering his 10th year in the classroom in our special education department: he has taught biology, government, and economics. Brian graduated from Purdue University (MS in Special Education) and undergraduate degree from Purdue University Calumet (BS in Social Studies). Brian resides in St. John with his wife Alexandra and their daughter Madelyn.
Position: JV Assistant Coach
Jack is in his 1st season as an assistant coach for the Indians. He is a May 2021 graduate of Purdue University. Upon graduation, Jack worked in tech sales for 2 years before deciding to go back to school to become a teacher. Jack has been the 8th grade basketball coach at Grimmer middle school for 2 seasons. Jack wedded his high school sweetheart Olivia in September and they currently reside in Crown Point. Jack and his brothers, Blake and Ben spent time as players in the LC program during high school. Jack is enthused to return to his alma mater in a coaching role
Position: Freshman Head Coach
Ron is entering his inaugural season as the head freshman coach. He previously coached youth sports and travel baseball within the Schererville Shock and Morris Baseball organizations. Ron is a 24 year NIPSCO employee where he works as a lineman. He is an IHSAA licensed official in both baseball and basketball. Ron currently lives in Schererville; he has two children, Hunter and Hanna, who are both graduates of Lake Central High School and Indiana University. Hunter played baseball for the Indians.
